Our company, Geoimaging LTD, with the ultimate goal of raising awareness about the capitalization of blue energy in Cyprus actively participated in the third in a row Transferring Lab of Interreg Med Blue Deal Project.

BLUE DEAL Transferring Lab

The main aim of the Lab was to present and discuss the marine renewable potential on the island of Cyprus with a diverse set of stakeholders, in order to develop a set of recommendations that can support integration and deployment of marine renewables in Cyprus and promote development of the industry.

The first day of the Lab, June 14, was dedicated to understanding and discussing the policy framework related to maritime developments and the future energy targets of the country. The second day, June 15, the results of the scientific and technical work conducted by the BLUE DEAL partnership were presented, and a preliminary set of pilot locations for the development of different Blue Energy technologies was shown. The importance of integrating considerations related to the interaction of Blue Energies with other users of the sea, such as marine life, archaeology and tourism were discussed. During the second day, Konstantinos Smagas and Vasilis Petrou from Geoimaging ltd, Cyprus talked about the Visualization of feasible Blue Energy Technologies in Cyprus, where they presented the 3D interactive modelling visualization tool that was created by Vasilis Petrou, to allow participants to navigate and take a look at the Blue energy technologies in the area of Cyprus, as well as to assess the visual impact from different points of view, if 3 types of devices were installed in three different locations around the island. During the breaks, physical attendees had also the opportunity to try and play with the 3D virtual tool with the help of Eleni Fotiadou of Geoimaging ltd, who was there to guide them and answer attendants’ questions.
