Objectives

  • Identify and engage with targeted customer segments, including industry members of the blue economy sector, competent authorities requiring tools for marine spatial planning, research and academic institutions, and environmental and interest groups active in the blue sector, to define the features and KPIs of the proposed solution
  • Develop a suite of intelligent system modules for marine, maritime and coastal Spatial Planning decision support
  • Develop a scalable and interoperable digital infrastructure to support and coordinate intelligent systems and human resources.
  • Validate the overall decision support system to further inform future development towards commercialisation.
  • Develop and execute a market entry strategy to establish the MSP4Growth platform as an MSPaaS for sustainable blue development, targeting key customer segments, and expanding its presence in domestic and international markets

The MSP4Growth project will provide solutions to pressing socio-economic development and environmental sustainability needs by offering tools for the maximisation of value-creation in environmentally sustainable activities considering conflicts between maritime activities. Examples of use cases related to digital marine spatial planning that will be pursued within this proposal include the sectors of offshore aquaculture, marine renewable energy, tourism and shipping industry considering areas under constraints of conflicts between space. Stakeholders and potential clients of the solutions offered by this proposal include i) industry members of the Blue Economy sector, ii) competent authorities requiring tools for marine spatial planning, iii) research and academic institutions interested in marine and maritime research and iv) environmental and interest groups active in the blue sector. The consortium will produce concrete exploitable results strengthening the competitiveness of the economy and delivering a positive impact on economic growth and the quality of life in Cyprus. The MSP4Growth project activities are divided into two main categories: Intelligent Marine Spatial Planning (iMSP) and the Web GIS Platform, which will provide iMSP as a service. The Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of these project activities is outlined below, based on the existing TRL of technologies brought by each partner into the consortium:

  • Intelligent Marine Spatial Planning (iMSP). Starting TRL: 4. / Ending TRL: 7
  • Web GIS Platform. Starting TRL: 6 / Ending TRL: 7
