Laser scanning of an old building constructed in 1907, Nicosia

The recent years, extensive restoration works have been carried out in Cyprus for buildings that have been declared by the Ministry of Interior as preserved, in order to take advantage of these old historical preserved houses by reusing for commercial or residential purposes.  This is the case for an old house situated in Nicosia which was constructed in 1907, and now it will get restored in order to get repurposed into something new.

The first and foremost step in this kind of projects is the detailed documentation of the building as it is.

Laser scanning

The documentation needs to show the full level of irregularity of a historic building; rooms are seldom anywhere near square, floors are rarely level, walls never have a consistent width etc. All this information of the existing condition allows the architects, as well as other engineers and interior designers to repair, plan, redesign and approve with actual measurements.

Our company offers the best solution to achieve detailed plans and high accuracy since we are using a high-tech laser scanning technology. 3D laser scanning allows us to capture in full all the detail of existing buildings at a level of precision that is very difficult and time-consuming to accomplish using other surveying methods.

Based on the above, our company was asked to 3d scan the interior and exterior of this old house. Our final deliverables were the floor plans of the building, elevations, cross sections, a 3D point-cloud model and a 360 virtual tour.
